Fall 2019 - Spring 2020
We meet at 11 AM at the John Ash Community Center, 112 N. Barry St., Olean, NY
2019
September 15 - WATER COMMUNION led by Rosanna Bonfilio. Bring the water you collected from special places over the summer or use some of the symbolic water we will have on hand to share and connect.
October 6 - FROM GRASS ROOTS TO FUNGAL NETWORKS and 10th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION led by Rev. Renee Ruchotzke. Using what she learned on her sabbatical about Permaculture, our UUA Primary Contact will share her insights about how lessons from nature can inform how we can live out our vision of Beloved Community. This will be followed by coffee hour from noon to 1 and a celebration (food, music, other festivities) from 1:00 - 3:00. The traditional gift for 10th anniversary is aluminum or tin, so you are invited to bring canned goods for donation to The Olean Food Pantry.
October 20 - Writing with Love: Post cards/letters of support to elementary school students in El Paso, Texas and Holiday Cards for those Experiencing Incarceration led by Corinne Potter.
Followed by our ANNUAL MEETING led by Rosanna Bonfilio.
November 3 - "Shout!" - Football as Religion led by John Snodgrass.
I'll be talking about elements of religion (a sacred day of the week, rituals, clothing, foods, etc) and how, for many Americans, the religious impulse is stronger during a football game than during a church service.
